Drone Brood, NO MITES!
Checking the colonies the last couple of days; I am very pleased in
seeing no mites on the drone brood in the burr comb between frames.
Every colony I check, no mites were seen on the capped drone pupae. I
feel the splitting I do after the summer solstice that forces a brood
break and the oxalic acid vaporization's during these brood breaks,
really help in lowering mite levels during that critical late summer
time before the winter bees are being raised. No mites to vector
viruses to the winter bees helps to have great colonies going into
winter.
